How To Download Classroom Supplements
To download classroom supplements, just click on the specific activity you would like to use. It will begin downloading the file to your computer's hard drive. All files use the Portable Document Format (PDF), a common compression format used on the World Wide Web. To view, print, and use the document once it has finished downloading, you will need an Adobe Acrobat Reader. Acrobat Reader is free software that allows you to use the PDF format. It can be downloaded from the Adobe Web site and is available for both Macintosh and PC platforms. Further documentation is provided by Adobe when you visit their Web site to download the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

- Elasticity Test
Working in groups, students will carry out a controlled experiment which will compare the elasticity of six-pack carriers that have been exposed to ultraviolet light to that of carriers which have not been exposed.

Students will observe characteristics of positive and negative buoyancy as they pertain to various types of plastics, and understand why it is important that photodegradable six-pack carriers have positive buoyancy.

Students will gain a basic understanding of three disposal options available for disposing of post-consumer six-pack carriers by constructing Venn diagrams that illustrate the similarities and differences among recycling, landfilling, and littering.
