St. Tiggywinkles is the first hospital in Europe to teach the care and rehabilitation of wildlife, and has been in operation since 1991. It is based in Buckinghamshire, and cares for all kinds of sick and injured animals. By collecting Hi-Cone rings in your school, you can not only be helping the environment, but also be helping care for wildlife at St. Tiggywinkles.

Hi-Cone donates funds every year to the hospital. So far these funds have been used to equip a post-operative intensive care unit, sponsor two nurses and build a hydrotherapy otter pool. This year's donation is being used to help build a visitors' centre. All participating schools receive updates on work at St. Tiggywinkles.

Over 1,000 schools are already collecting in many parts of the UK. To find out if there is a collection point in your area, contact the project manager at the above address or telephone number.

This project was carried out in Ireland on a pilot basis in 1995. Five classes in primary schools in South Dublin and Wicklow worked on it during May and June 1995. As a result of the feedback from this pilot scheme, in 1996, over 100 schools in Dublin, Cork, and Limerick carried out the project.
